Somerville Cell Phone Store Repeated Target Of Robberies: Report

Somerville Communications is trying to fend off potential thieves.

SOMERVILLE, MA — A cellphone store has been robbed twice in recent weeks, with thousands of dollars worth of merchandise taken from the business, according to a report from 7 News Boston.

The most recent incident took place Sunday at Somerville Communications, located at 52 Broadway. An employee said a person entered the store wearing an all-black outfit before fleeing with a phone.

The business was also targeted earlier this month when another person entered the store carrying a bag and filled it with approximately $10,000 worth of iPhones and iPads before leaving. The thieves were also dressed in all-black and stuffed stolen goods into a plastic bag of their own after unsuccessfully requesting one from employees. Owner Nabin Basnet said the repeated thefts have been difficult for the small business to absorb and expressed frustration over people targeting the store.

Whether or not the two incidents are believed to be connected has not been released.
