No Bail For Suspected Killer Of Ex-Somerville Football Player

SOMERVILLE, MA – The suspect in the fatal shooting of a 20-year-old Somerville man in a parking lot last month has been ordered held without bail, the Middlesex District Attorney's office said. Tony Harris, 28, of Everett, was arraigned Monday on a murder charge in the death of Kevin Raymond. He was arrested Nov. 3.
Raymond was shot on Canal Lane around 3:40 a.m. Oct. 14, according to the DA's office. He was taken to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead. There is no word yet on a motive.
Raymond had previously played football for Franklin Pierce University in Rindge, NH but had not been enrolled this semester, according to the Boston Globe. He was a 2014 graduate of Somerville High School and starred at running back for the Highlanders, Coach Makonnen Fenton told the Globe.

Harris also faces charges of assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, carrying a firearm without a license, possession of ammunition without a license, carrying a loaded firearm without a license and discharging a firearm within 500 feet of a building. He will next appear in court Dec. 7.
