Our carefully curated lineup of comedians has been featured on Amazon Prime, The Comedy Store, The Laugh Factory, The Second City, Don't Tell Comedy, and the New York Comedy Festival.
This month's headliner is the hilarious Ray Harrington. Known for his irreverent material and marvelous improvisational riffing, Ray performs across the globe and has entertained audiences on Conan, ABC, FOX, Sirius XM, Don't Tell Comedy, and SBS Australia. His documentary BE A MAN won the LA Comedy Festival before premiering exclusively on Hulu. His latest album, Overwhelmed, debuted at Number 1 on Amazon and at the top of the Billboard Comedy Charts. Opened in 1914, the historic Somerville Theatre is conveniently located right next to the Davis Square T stop on the Red Line. Parking is available nearby. The microcinema is in the basement of the theater. We can't wait to get things popping at the show!

It’s the summer of ’96 and best friends (and secret girlfriends) Hannah and Sam are driving across the country from Long Beach, New York, to the fabled queer paradise of San Francisco, free from the harsh gazes of their neighbors and the stifling demands of Hannah’s devout Orthodox Jewish mother. In San Francisco, they will finally be together as a real couple, out in the open, around other queer people. Even if the move means leaving behind Hannah’s beloved Bubbe. When the financial strains of West Coast living push the girls to start stripping at The Chez Paree—yet another secret Hannah must keep from her family—Hannah feels trapped. Sam wants her at the club, but Hannah hates stripping nearly as much as she hates disappointing Sam. Then Hannah meets Chris, an older butch lesbian, who is immediately taken with her. Desperate to stay in San Francisco, but away from the leering men at the club, Hannah proposes an escort arrangement. But as Hannah falls deeper into Chris’ world and Sam starts to meet new queer friends, a rift forms between them. Without Sam, who is Hannah? About the Authors
Shoshana von Blanckensee&nbsp;lives in Berkeley, California, with her partner and kids. She is an Oncology Nurse by day, and a writer by any available moment.&nbsp;Girls Girls Girls&nbsp;is her debut novel.
Kit Haggard is a writer and editor. Her debut novel, Rushlights, will publish with Putnam in June of 2027. Haggard has been named a Bread Loaf scholar, Mass Cultural Council artist fellow, and Spruceton Inn resident. Books she’s edited have appeared on "best of" lists by the New York Times, Elle, and <a target="_blank" href="https://tor.com/" rel="nofollow noopener">Tor.com</a>, among other accolades.

The&nbsp;Bow&nbsp;Tides&nbsp;is&nbsp;a powerhouse Celtic ensemble led by&nbsp;three Irish fiddlers:&nbsp;Ellery Klein,&nbsp;Jessie Burns&nbsp;and champion&nbsp;dancer Katie Grennan.&nbsp;These dynamic women&nbsp;are veterans of&nbsp;the&nbsp;stage and studio, with a collective 16 years as&nbsp;the&nbsp;fiddlers with&nbsp;the&nbsp;Irish-American&nbsp;supergroup Gaelic Storm.&nbsp;Holding down&nbsp;the&nbsp;low end and vocals in&nbsp;the&nbsp;group are&nbsp;Grammy-nominated bassist Eric Thorin&nbsp;and&nbsp;guitarist/singer Jeff Lindblade.&nbsp;
Since&nbsp;the&nbsp;group's inception in 2020, they have&nbsp;headlined major Irish festivals&nbsp;around&nbsp;the&nbsp;country, including&nbsp;Milwaukee&nbsp;and&nbsp;Iowa Irish Festivals, and toured across a number of other US cities, thrilling crowds wherever they go with&nbsp;their tasteful original compositions, rich harmonies and driving traditional tunes, songs and Irish dance. Did you ever want to go to art school but accidentally went to law school instead? Somerville is a city full of artists–become one of them for a night!&nbsp;
High above Union Square, a different kind of school is in session. For one night only, a collective of Somerville’s arts organizations and businesses that call themselves Somerville Arts Engine is transforming 10 Prospect Street into One Night Art School—an immersive, hands-on arts experience where you can sample a semester's worth of creativity in a single evening. 
This is no passive lecture. Come draw a live model, add your mark to a community mural, sing along with the Strummerville Ukulele Club, or pinch a pot. Hop into an interactive podcasting experience, learn to pop, or attend a Q&amp;A with professional artists. Grab the open mic for some live comedy coaching, drop into a collage session, and experiment with color theory. Come try a little bit of everything, no prerequisites required!
 Your professors for the evening are some of Somerville's most beloved arts organizations and creative businesses, including Boston Figure Art Center, Arts at the Armory, Deborah Mason Performing Arts Center, EventThem, KMW School of Painting, Mudflat, New Impressions Print Studio, Somerville Open Studios, The Somerville Museum and Tiny Turns Paperie.

Thom Tran is a Los Angeles–based comedian, actor, musician, and U.S. Army combat veteran whose stand-up career began after surviving a gunshot wound to the back of the head while deployed to Iraq.
Following his medical retirement, Tran relocated to Los Angeles in 2008 and quickly immersed himself in the comedy scene. He went on to found The GIs of Comedy, an internationally touring, all-military veteran stand-up group that has performed for U.S. service members stationed and deployed in combat zones worldwide. The group was featured on Larry Charles’ Dangerous World of Comedy (Netflix) and has appeared on CBS and NBC.
As a solo act, Tran tours nationally and internationally, including dates across Europe with longtime collaborator Brad Williams, performing in Denmark, Norway, England, Ireland, and beyond. His material blends sharp observational humor with lived experience, delivered with discipline and timing honed both on stage and in service.
Based in Hollywood, Tran is a regular at premier clubs including the World Famous Laugh Factory and the Comedy &amp; Magic Club, in addition to theaters and venues throughout Southern California. On screen, Tran has co-starred on NCIS: Los Angeles and SEAL Team (CBS) and appears in the feature film My Dead Friend Zoe alongside Morgan Freeman, Sonequa Martin-Green, and Ed Harris.

What happens when Flamenco collides with Step and Tap? When West African dance intersects with Kathak? Join us for the 4th annual Feet Keep the Beat Festival to find out!
This year, Arts at the Armory has commissioned our collective of six percussive dancers and five musicians to create ROOTS &amp; WINGS: The Next Generation, premiering on July 31st.
As the featured artists tell the story of how feet have been keeping the beat across time, cultures, and geographies, they will deepen their collaboration by sharing the stage with the next generation. Some will perform alongside their children or their students, creating a powerful celebration of artistic inheritance, mentorship, and renewal. Representing how rhythm, movement, and cultural traditions are passed from one generation to the next.&nbsp;

If you’re a sketch writer, performer, director or teacher who is interested in process, experimentation and discovery, this workshop is for you! This full day session will operate like a professional sketch rehearsal with a focus on material generation and productive exploration. Through writing, improvisation and on-our-feet exercises, we’ll play with a range of techniques to create material. Participants will leave with new creative tools, and new ways to approach writing, performing and developing sketch. Participants should have some prior experience with sketch comedy. A comfort with improvisation is a plus. Come ready to play and let’s see what we can make together!
ABOUT ANDY: Andy Miara is a former director for The Second City in Chicago where he also served as a core writing instructor in the Second City Training Center. He is a former head writer of The Onion News Network and co-creator of The Onion’s sister site, Clickhole.com. Alongside Tim Robinson and Mark Raterman, Miara co-founded the sketch group My Mans. The trio developed pilots for Comedy Central and Adult Swim, and created The Thanksgiving House, an immersive theater show in Los Angeles produced by Funny or Die and IFC. Miara has written on animated comedies including Robot Chicken and SuperMansion, and has developed original projects with NBC, TBS, truTV, and Cartoon Network. Most recently, he co-wrote and directed the scripted audio series Get It To Dutch for iHeart Media, and currently has an animated pilot in development at Fox starring Tim Robinson and Cecily Strong. Miara is an Assistant Professor of Screenwriting at Emerson College.

About the Book
When Kevin decides to come out to his Filipino parents at the dinner table, he expects them to create some drama. What he didn't anticipate was for his parents to ignore him entirely. Kevin is tired of feeling overlooked at home and at school when he is presented with the opportunity to reinvent himself with the help of Raymond, the most popular and admired gay kid in school. With Raymond’s guidance (and particular taste in fashion), life is suddenly looking a lot brighter.
But, perfection comes at a cost. Life as Raymond’s pet project has its own demanding expectations, including abandoning his old “uncool” friends and his beloved journalism club. Kevin is forced to confront the hard truth: Is it worth changing who you are if it means becoming something you’re not?
COMING OUT PERFECT emerges as the tender first book in a two book series about identity, self-worth, and the high cost of fitting in if it means leaving parts of yourself behind.
About the Author
Richard Mercado (he/him) is a Filipino cartoonist and graphic designer whose minicomic I Owe It to My Parents to Not Come Out earned him a 2023 Ignatz nomination for Promising New Talent. He has an MFA in sequential art from Savannah College of Art and Design and works as a production artist for Skybound Entertainment.
