Emmy-wining Actor, Somerville Native Alex Rocco Dies

Rocco was best known for his portrayal of of Moe Green in "The Godfather."

Emmy award-winning actor and Somerville native Alex Rocco, who appeared in dozens of movies and TV shows, died Saturday. He was 79.

Best known for playing casino owner Moe Greene in “The Godfather” — during which he uttered the famous line, “Do you know who I am?” — Rocco also starred in episodes of several TV shows including “The Facts of Life” and “Starsky and Hutch,” and his famous Boston accented voice was heard on animated shows including “The Simpsons” and “Family Guy.” His Emmy is for The Famous Teddy Z in 1989, for his portrayal of character Al Foss.

His daughter Jennifer Rocco confirmed his death on her Facebook page.
