Art and Innovation

On October 26th, HomeStart, a Boston-based nonprofit focused on helping the local homeless community, is hosting a night to celebrate innovation and help provide permanent housing to those not fortunate enough have any. Enjoy contemporary art and live jazz while supporting a good cause.

Emerging Somerville artist Danielle Festa will be exhibiting and donating partial proceeds from the sale of her work to benefit HomeStart. HomeStart’s unique vision is to end homelessness by helping people get homes. This turns the standard approach on its head. Danielle Festa’s work
is similarly unorthodox. Mixing media with fabrics, Festa’s methods fuse unrelated elements to create a contemporary approach to portraits.

When first approached with the idea of combining forces, Festa replied: “I would be thrilled to work with HomeStart. Having a home is the crucial first step to getting your life back on track, and I am happy I can use my art to contribute.”

Space with a Soul, a nonprofit mission accelerator in Boston’s Innovation District, is hosting the
event on October 26, from 6-9 PM. The event will be hosted in the 7th floor loft space with views
of Fort Point Channel and the Boston skyline, providing a fitting modern setting for Festa’s work.

This event is free and open to the public. To RSVP: http://ArtAndInnovation.eventbrite.com
