Members of the Boston Symphony Orchestra will be featured in a free concert as part of the BSO’s 2011-12 Community Chamber Music Series, on Sunday, March 18. The 3 p.m. concert will be held at Somerville High School on 81 Highland Avenue in Somerville, MA. Admission is free, but tickets must be reserved prior to the concert by calling SymphonyCharge at 888-266-1200. BSO trombonists Toby Oft, Stephan Lange, and Douglas Yeo will perform a program including arrangements of works by Bach and Beethoven, as well as Bruckner’s two Aequale in C, WAB 114 and 149, Raymond Premru’s Felicity and Episode, Michael Davis’s Power Trio, and Frigyes Hidas’s Interludio.
The BSO performs Community Chamber Concerts for thousands of children and adults throughout New England each year to encourage music education and strengthen ties with surrounding communities, both key components of the orchestra’s mission. Sunday Community Chamber Concerts are followed by a casual reception where audience members and musicians can meet to talk about music, the Boston Symphony, and more.
