"Clematis--Queen of the Climbers" is a free lecture offered as part of the Somerville Garden Club's June meeting. Cheryl Monroe, Certified Master Gardener, will give a lively presentation on this most versatile of climbing plants. Samples in bloom will be passed around for additional inspiration. In her own garden, Ms. Monroe grows over fifty varieties of clematis in sun and shade, in the ground and in containers. As well as being a dedicated volunteer at the Tower Hill Botanic Garden in Boylston, MA, she blogs at www.gardenintheburrow.com.
The Somerville Garden Club meets the second Wednesday of every month. Each meeting includes club announcements, a time for gardening questions and answers, a featured lecture or demonstration, then concludes with a raffle of donated plants and garden-related items. All meetings are free and the public is invited to attend; parking is available, and the building is a ten-minute walk from the Davis Square MBTA stop.
