Founded in 2004 by Julianne Idlet, a former marketing executive and avid cyclist who is passionate about children’s health, CYCLE Kids provides a bicycling based curriculum to urban schools and community centers for fourth and fifth grade students. The program teaches children how to maintain a healthy and active lifestyle while increasing their self-esteem. To date the program has reached over 3,500 children and has become a mandatory part of the physical education program for all fifth grade students in both Somerville and Cambridge schools.

This year’s gala will be held at the Loeb House, an extension of the Harvard Faculty Club and former home of several Harvard Presidents. Over the course of the evening those in attendance will have the opportunity to taste exclusive and innovative dishes from local celebrity chefs, including Paul O’Connell of Chez Henri, which will be complimented by a selection of exceptional wines and craft beers. Guests will have the opportunity to take part in a silent and live auction that will support the development of a literacy curriculum that reinforces the importance of living active and healthy lifestyles, as well as meeting the basic needs of the organization as they continue to grow and reach more children.
