Dance Against Poverty

Put on your dancing shoes for a good cause.  The Social Action Committee of Temple B’nai Brith invites you to a Benefit Dance for the Community Action Agency of Somerville (CAAS), Saturday, March 3, 8:30 p.m., at the Temple, 201 Central Street in Somerville.

“Congregation B’nai Brith is delighted to choose CAAS as the beneficiary of this year’s annual fundraiser dance,” said Janet Gottler, Social Action Committee chair.  “Through its programs CAAS works to strengthen families, to provide safety and shelter, and to empower children and adults through its education and training programs.   We are excited and proud to support their efforts.”

Music will be provided by The Usual Suspects, “the band the Third Millennium forgot,” playing R&B, rock 'n roll and blues.  The suggested minimum donation is $10, but more is appreciated, and no one will be turned away.  Children under 13 dance free.

Proceeds will benefit CAAS’ efforts to end poverty where we live, from providing high-quality Head Start services to homeless prevention.  “CAAS is looking forward to a great time on March 3,” said Kimberly Smith-Cofield, Executive Director.  “Many thanks to Congregation B’nai Brith, and I hope to see many friends and supporters there.”

The mission of the Community Action Agency of Somerville (CAAS) is to reduce poverty among local families and individuals while working to counteract, and whenever possible eliminate, the societal conditions that cause and perpetuate poverty.  For more information, see www.caasomerville.org, or find us on Facebook.
