Tufts’ Distler Hall will be filled with the sound of saxophones, bass drums, and a host of other percussion instruments when Tufts Composer Kevin Warren’s new piece, Earthquakes, is premiered on Sunday, January 22nd 2012. Earthquakes is a twenty minute musical tempest for saxophone quartet and two percussionists. The program will also include The Last Minute for unaccompanied saxophone quartet and a percussion duo, both hot off the press. Composer John McDonald describes Earthquakes as a “tour de force that pulls out all of Warren’s technical and expressive stops to date; it is delightfully inventive and rough-edged.”
