M2 and Neptune: Sound. Installation. Improvisation.

From the Center for Arts at the Armory:

Neptune will be performing “Drip,” combining a ladder, a bucket with a spigot, a washtub basin, and five gallons of water to create a sound installation that drips continuously and resonantly. Multiple transducers are used to capture the sound, which is processed electronically to create a shifting and varied soundscape. Neptune has been creating music from home-made instruments since 1994: neptuneband.com

M2, comprised of brothers Roger Miller and Benjamin Miller, celebrate the release of their new album, At Land’s Edge. Roger (Mission of Burma, Alloy Orchestra) will be playing prepared piano with bolts and alligator clips stuck on and between the piano's strings. Benjamin (Glenn Branca Ensemble, Sensorium Saxophone Orchestra) will be playing his unique "multiphonic guitar," which involves multiple pickups, preparations, and electronic devices modifying sounds after the fact. M2's first record (yes, record: this vinyl release comes with a download card) comes out June 1.  The album, recorded at the Lilypad with Michael Bierylo engineering, will be available for sale at the show.
