Songs of Salvation: Music for a 15th-Century Burges Merchant

The Dutch vocal ensemble Cappella Pratensis performs the Missa de Sancto Donatiano by Jacob Obrecht, one of the masters of Franco-Flemish polyphony, in a concert that evokes the world of fifteenth century Bruges. The concert is preceded by an illustrated lecture-demonstration presented, with the singers, by musicologist M. Jennifer Bloxam (Williams College), and offering insight into a breathtakingly beautiful composition embedded in a story of political intrigue and personal tragedy.
