Travel Talk: Latin America

Hosted by the Tufts Traveler Magazine and Hosteling International. Featuring speakers on travel in Latin America, timed to coincide with the impending release of our spring issue on Latin America. A RAFFLE will be held for FREE TICKETS TO EUROPE including some nights in a hostel. The event will be held in Pearson Chemistry Laboratory, Room 106.

Panelists Include:

Tess Varney  attended the University of Massachusetts Amherst receiving her Bachelors degree in 2007. Prior to graduation Tess spent a year studying abroad in Valparaiso, Chile and traveling around surrounding countries. She also spent a summer in Bogota, Colombia doing an internship with a grassroots organization. Tess was the Volunteer Coordinator for BaseCamp Centers, Int. for a year and a half. Tess worked with more than 50 organizations throughout the country and Galapagos Islands, doing site visits and home stay inspections.

Steven Cohen is a junior studying International Letters and Visual Studies with a concentration in Latin American Literature. After a semester in Buenos Aires last fall, Steven spent six weeks backpacking in Chile, Peru, Brazil and Colombia. He has also traveled extensively in Western Europe and the Middle East. Steven has an internship this summer blogging for AtlasObscura, a travel company that specializes in shedding light on the bizarre and unusual.

Amanda Chuzi is a junior double majoring in International Relations and Environmental Studies here at Tufts. She also spent last fall studying in Argentina and traveled to various points of interest within the country. In Buenos Aires she taught at a school in a low-income neighborhood and formed her own charity campaign to raise donations for them. Amanda has traveled to over 25 countries on 5 continents. She will spend 6 weeks this summer WWOOFing on organic farms in Peru and Ecuador.
