Tufts jazz ensembles, under the direction of Joel LaRue Smith and Nando Michelin, will perform a concert entitled “Papa’s Got a Brand New Bag” on Sunday, November 13, 2011 at 7 p.m.. The program will feature music by James Brown, Aretha Franklin, and Earth, Wind and Fire. The performance will also feature the debut of the Tufts Jazz Choir. The choir is made up of seven talented singers, a guest student saxophonist, and is directed and accompanied by Prof. Tisha Stadnicki. The group will perform three jazz standard song selections, "It Had to Be You," "Where or When," and "Love is Here to Stay."
