Owing in large part to a relatively long, hot growing season, the south of France boasts some of the biggest reds and whites in the whole country. Provence, the Languedoc-Rousillon and southern Rhone feature a variety of mostly blended wines that can stand up to the olive, herb and garlic-spiked Mediterranean cuisine for which this region is famous.
