Finally, Substantial Snowfall Seems Reality in Somerville

After a balmy Christmas, Somerville residents will likely be forced to finally unpack their hats and gloves this week. Forecasters are suggesting that winter weather is likely heading towards the area.

Snow is in the forecast Monday night and Tuesday, according to the National Weather Service. A mixture of winter weather is also a possibility. In addition, it seems that snow is becoming more likely with each passing day.

This is the latest forecast:

• Monday Night: Snow is likely, mainly after 3:00 a.m. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 27 degrees with a 80 percent chance of precipitation
• Tuesday: Snow is likely before 9:00 a.m., then rain and snow are likely between 9:00 a.m. and 11:00 a.m. Rain will likely follow with a 90 percent chance of precipitation and a high of 39 degrees.
• Tuesday Night: There is a chance of rain before 1:00 a.m. It will be mostly cloudy with a low of approximately 33 degrees and a 40 percent chance of precipitation.
