Hidden Boston Honors Somerville Restaurants

Renee's Cafe and Pescatore both landed on the restaurant guide's "Best of 2014" list.

One would assume that the North End would house Greater Boston’s best Italian restaurant. Furthermore, one would guess that Boston’s supreme breakfast diner is somewhere in Allston/Brighton, because there are, like, three breakfast diners on every block in that neighborhood.

But Boston’s Hidden Restaurants declares both of those presumptions wrong. The quintessential breakfast diner and the best Italian food in Boston are found in Somerville, says the online restaurant guide in its Best of 2014 list.

Renee’s Cafe scored the nod for 2014’s most epic breakfast place, noted especially for its corned beef and coffee. Meanwhile, Pescatore won the metaphorical trophy for best Italian restaurant on the alleged strength of its fish-cooking chops.
