Man Charged With OUI After Somerville Crash
Police said the man told officers he was drunk and replied, "Why waste your time?" when asked if he would undergo the field tests.
SOMERVILLE, MA — Police arrested and charged a Weymouth man with operating under the influence of liquor after a crash in Somerville Saturday afternoon. Officers were called to the intersection of Beacon Street and Beacon Place around 2:03 p.m. and found a green 2004 Dodge Dakota with the driver's side damaged and a blue 2017 Honda CRV stopped down the street, according to the police report.
Paramedics told officers the driver of the CRV said he had been drinking, according to police. The driver, 45-year-old Leo Murphy, refused to go to the hospital, police said.
A witness told officers she was driving behind the CRV, which swerved in and out of the lane, according to the police report. On Beacon Street, the CRV hit a yellow pole and then swerved into an oncoming lane, the witness told police.
