Mayor: Bomb Suspect's Van Like 'Inside Of Geoff Diehl's Head'

Elizabeth Warren's challenger is calling on the senator to condemn the outspoken Somerville mayor's comments.

SOMERVILLE, MA – A van belonging to the man accused of mailing bombs to several prominent Democrats looks "like the inside of Geoff Diehl's head," according to Joseph Curtatone. The mayor of Somerville tweeted a comparison between Sen. Elizabeth Warren's challenger and an image of the van, adorned with bumper stickers praising Trump and taking aim at Democrats, after the suspect's arrest Friday.

The tweet drew a sharp rebuke from the Republican Senate candidate, who called on Warren to condemn Curtatone's tweet.

"This ugly statement in regard to the sobering incidents of this week shows a lack of leadership, a lack of decorum, and a fundamental lack of judgement. It’s appalling," Diehl's campaign said in a statement. "I am calling on Senator Warren to condemn her colleague and supporter’s comments. Her continued support for this poisonous rhetoric is unacceptable."

Diehl co-chaired Trump's campaign in Massachusetts but has tried to distance himself from some of the president's harsher rhetoric, declaring in a recent debate that he doesn't "follow the same path that the president does on how I legislate, how I deal with people."
