Obituary: Rosemary Ann Flanagan, 62, Somerville Special Ed. Teacher
Family, friends and her home were paramount to Rosemary's life.

SOMERVILLE, MA – Mrs. Rosemary Ann (McCarthy) Flanagan passed away peacefully, surrounded by her devoted family, on May 9, 2017 in her home in Somerville, MA. Born in Boston she was the daughter of the late Jeremiah and Mary Eileen (Moore) McCarthy.
Rosemary spent her life working with youth, first at the Italian Home for Children and later as a special education teacher with the Somerville Public Schools. Family, friends and her home were paramount to Rosemary's life. Her friends, family and co-workers were beneficiaries of her thoughtful notes, cards and hand crafted gifts. For many years, Rosemary acting in a Santa Claus manner would make bags full of home made cookies and other goodies which she delivered through out the neighborhood. She enjoyed traveling, reading, quilting and needle craft projects for her home. Above all, she was devoted to her family.
Rosemary is survived by her beloved husband of 33 years, James Flanagan; her children Jeremiah of Somerville, Patrick of Malden and Moore of Somerville. She was the dear sister of Maureen Pacheco and her husband Joseph, Patricia Montagna and her husband Anthony, Theresa Royal and the late Dermod and Eileen McCarthy. She was a loving aunt of Victoria and Phillip.
