October Fire in Teele Square Deemed Accidental

Authorities have concluded that a that struck a Teele Square building on Oct. 29, during a bizarre early season snowstorm, was accidental.

The Somerville Fire Department, Somerville Police, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives and the state fire marshal , said Somerville Fire Chief Kevin Kelleher.

While the investigation determined the fire was accidental, it also found the cause "undetermined," said Kelleher, meaning the specific cause, whether it was an electrical malfunction, a gas leak or some other factor, is not known.

Kelleher said the fire started in the "rear of the cleaners," referring to . , a business that also had a storefront in the building, also burned down. Kee Kar Laue Fine Asian Cuisine, and the West Somerville police substation also suffered smoke and water damage as a result of the fire.

The fire started at about 11 p.m. on Oct. 29, and firefighters from Somerville, Cambridge, Boston, Medford, Chelsea and Everett responded to the incident, working in wet, cold and snowy conditions due to an early season October snowstorm.

It is likely part or all of the building will be demolished.
