Biotech Company Moving From Cambridge To Somerville (patch.com) — Somerville's Union Square is getting a boost as biotech firm Predicta Biosciences relocates from Cambridge to become the first lab tenant at 10 Prospect Street this October. City officials say the move validates years of work extending the Green Line, updating zoning, and partnering on the USQ redevelopment, which will add labs, housing, retail, and new open space around the station.
   

2. Man Arrested After Steel Broom Assault In Somerville (patch.com) — Police in Somerville arrested a man after an alleged steel-broom assault in Davis Square's Statue Park left another person with a serious head injury earlier this month. Officers say a dispute over a relationship escalated into punches before the suspect reportedly grabbed a broom and struck the victim, who was taken to a Cambridge hospital while the suspect was later booked at Somerville Police Station.
   

3. Park Street Somerville Fire (thesomervillenewsweekly.blog) — A serious early-morning fire heavily damaged a long-vacant house on Park Street in Somerville, injuring three firefighters and forcing crews to battle the blaze from outside after the roof collapsed. Mutual aid from Cambridge, Boston, Chelsea, and Medford helped Somerville firefighters knock down flames that spread through all floors, while investigators continue working to determine what sparked the three-alarm fire.
   

4. Ravioli recalled because of undeclared lobster (foodsafetynews.com) — A Somerville-based maker of Deano's Pasta is recalling specific lots of its Pear and Pecorino Triangoli Ravioli because the frozen bags may contain undeclared lobster, posing a serious risk to people with shellfish allergies. Sold in Massachusetts stores between August 8 and September 22, the one‑pound bags with listed lot codes should be returned for a full refund instead of eaten.
   

5. Worker Wins: 'A Meaningful Voice In the Decisions that Affect Them' (aflcio.org) — Somerville firefighters have ratified a new three‑year contract that the City Council has funded, bringing steady cost‑of‑living raises, higher stipends for EMT work and emergency response, and new cancer‑screening funds. The deal also expands sick time flexibility and adds eight weeks of paid maternity leave, potentially improving emergency services and firefighter well‑being across the city.
