Salem French Pastry Shop Bringing Second Location To Somerville
Caramel French Patisserie will take over a former pawn shop in Davis Square.
SOMERVILLE, MA β A former pawn shop in Davis Square will turn from buying gold to selling french pastries, as Salem-based Caramel French Patisserie plans to open its second location at 233 Elm Street. First reported by Cambridge Day, the pastry shop announced its expansion in a June 7 Facebook post.
The plan is still in its infancy β "coming soon" signs were posted in the storefront windows over the weekend, but Caramel French Patisserie has not yet announced an official opening date. The pawn shop, LBC Boutique & Loan, recently moved a few buildings down to 260 Elm Street.
The Salem pastry shop is co-owned by siblings Dimitri and Sophie Vallier, whose family's history in the patisserie business dates back to 1931 in France. According to Cambridge Day, Dimitri was raised in South Central France and studied under several world-renowned chefs.
