Somerville Bread Company On The Move

But it won't be going far, settling in bigger digs near Union Square.

SOMERVILLE, MA – Somerville Bread Company is moving into loftier digs near Union Square as the bakery continues its rapid expansion. First reported by Eater Boston, owner Nicholas Robertson announced the move Sunday in a statement on SBC's website.

"The good news is SBC has grown tremendously over the past 6 months, particularly our wholesale business," Robertson wrote. "The bad news is, we've grown right out of our home at 415 Medford St!"

Robertson said the new space is about five times the size of SBC's current shop and will make room for expanded business ventures and bread-making classes. Neighborhood Produce, a start-up grocery store by Matt Gray, will take over the storefront at 415 Medford Street and stock SBC bread loaves.

The good news is SBC has grown tremendously over the past 6 months, particularly our wholesale business. The bad news is, we've grown right out of our home at 415 Medford St! In a few weeks the bakery will be moving into expanded space near Union Square. With nearly 5x the space of our current location, SBC will be able to expand our wholesale business to area restaurants, as well additional retail offerings at area markets. The location also includes space for bigger and better bread-making classes! Check back soon for details on how to book a private event or register for a class.
The other good news? The current bakery/retail space at 415 Medford St. is soon to become home to Neighborhood Produce, a local start-up by Matt Grey. In addition to fresh local produce, Matt will stock SBC bread for our loaf-loving neighbors.
