Somerville Civic Day Returning To City Hall

The city aims to increase civic spirit with this upcoming event.

SOMERVILLE, MA — Residents will have the chance to learn more about their local government next month, with activities, city services, and other events planned.

The city's fourth Civic Day is scheduled for Thursday, Sept. 10, from 5 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. inside Somerville City Hall and on the City Hall concourse at 93 Highland Ave.

The event will feature a 311 scavenger hunt, a Somerville Police K9 meet-and-greet, photo opportunities with a police motorcycle and Somerville Fire truck, library card sign-ups, City Hall tours, and a porous pavement demonstration. Food, music, educational opportunities, and other activities will also be part of the event.

City Hall will remain open for regular city business throughout Civic Day, allowing residents to register to vote, renew parking permits, and access other city services while attending the event. Multilingual staff from the city's Language and Communications Access division will also be available to assist residents who need help connecting with city departments.

"The best way to learn about your local government is to interact with it. You ask questions, share stories, learn names, make lasting connections, and build real knowledge," Mayor Jake Wilson said. "Civic Day is one-stop shopping for City services, with fun activities for the whole family."
