Somerville Man Threw Punch During Attempted Robbery: TPD

The 38-year-old punched a man in the face and tried to go through his pockets at the Haymarket T stop, according to police.

SOMERVILLE, MA — A Somerville man was charged with attempted robbery at the Haymarket T stop. Michael Coneeny, 38, is accused of punching a man in the face and trying to go through his pockets, according to Transit Police.

The victim, 51, told officers he was standing outside Dunkin' Donuts around 11 a.m. on Feb. 1 when two men wearing masks approached him, police said. One of the men punched him in the side of the face and pursued the victim when he tried to flee, according to police.

Officers searched the area and arrested Coneeny based on the description of the attacker. Coneeny had a mask on him and admitted to the robbery, police said. He was charged with attempted unarmed robbery and assault and battery.
