Somerville 2019 Preliminary Election Set For Sept. 10

Voters will be asked to narrow down two races to two candidates.

SOMERVILLE, MA — Voters will cast ballots for mayor, ward city councilor, city councilors-at-large and school committee members this fall. A preliminary election for mayor and Ward 3 school committee, similar to a primary election, is set for Tuesday, Sept. 10.

This year incumbent mayor Joseph Curtatone faces challenges from Marianne Walles and Kenneth Vanbuskirk III. The candidates for Ward 3 school committee are Mary Marshall, Michele Lippens and Sarah Phillips.

Voters will narrow down the mayoral and Ward 3 school committee races to two candidates. This is a nonpartisan preliminary and all voters may vote for any candidate running for either office. The general election will be Tuesday, Nov. 5.
