Somerville Students Win MSBA 'My Ideal School' Art Contest
The East Somerville Community School students were among 11 winners selected by the Massachusetts School Building Authority.

SOMERVILLE, MA – Two students at the East Somerville Community School were among 11 elementary schoolers statewide honored by the Massachusetts School Building Authority as winners of the "My Ideal School" art contest.
Varvara Karenskaya and Eric Urrunaga currently have their work hanging at the Massachusetts State House. The winners were honored at a State House ceremony on May 31, where each winner received a special prize donated by People's United Bank. The goal of the "My Ideal School" contest was to encourage discussion among students and teachers as to how the design and construction of schools can support student engagement and learning.
Karenskaya and Urrunaga were among the regional winners in the contest. Greenfield's Mariya Stytsenko was named the grand prize winner.
