Union Square's The Independent Reopens

Back on Feb. 2, the Independent announced that it would close temporarily to undergo a handful of renovations. The lull in business only lasted 10 days, and the so-called “Indo” has been back in operation since.

A missive from the Union Square restaurant/bar explains that the lighting and bathrooms have been upgraded, and they leveled up the kitchen and bar equipment to prepare refurbished Independent menu options.

While we can’t comment on the Independent’s quality one way or another, we should note that it’s gotten plenty of encouraging Yelp reviews, next to only two negative writeups, one of which is from a gentleman complaining about “hipsters,” casting doubt on his reliability.
