Unlicensed MA Chiropractor Accused Of Assaulting Women At His Home

SOMERVILLE, MA — A 60-year-old unlicensed chiropractor in Somerville is facing multiple charges including assault and battery and indecent exposure, the Middlesex District Attorney's Office announced Tuesday.
The man, Jose Mendez, is accused of assaulting two women on separate occasions "while providing services under the guise of being a chiropractor," according to officials.
Mendez had been operating the unlicensed business out of his Cross Street home, where he is accused of inappropriately touching the women and on one occasion, unzipping his pants and exposing himself, officials said.

"Investigators believe that the defendant has been operating his business through word of mouth and referrals in the community and are actively investigating the scope of his unlicensed practice," the DA's office said.
Mendez was arraigned in Somerville District Court Wednesday. Bail was set at $5,500 and he was ordered to have no contact with his accusers and to not practice as a chiropractor, officials said.

He is next due in court May 14.
