VNA To Buy Somerville's Jeanne Jugan Residence
The Visiting Nurse Association will continue to operate the facility for the elderly, which was run by the Little Sisters of the Poor.

SOMERVILLE, MA — The Visiting Nurse Association has made a deal with the Little Sisters of the Poor to buy the Jeanne Jugan Residence and Pavilion, according to the Somerville Times. The VNA has operated assisted and senior living homes in Somerville for 20 years and will continue to run the Jeanne Jugan Residence.
The Highland Avenue facility has 26 skilled nursing beds, 58 residential care beds and 27 independent living apartments. All residents will be able to stay, the Times reported.
The Little Sisters announced in September they were leaving the Jeanne Jugan Residence after more than a century of operating homes for the elderly in Charlestown and Somerville. The current building has been in use since 1978 after opening behind the former home.
