"A Wild Affair" Returning to Stone Zoo

The annual tasting event is slated for June 18 from 5:30-9:30 p.m.

Get your taste buds ready, as Stone Zoo is set to host its annual "A Wild Affair" tasting event from 5:30-9:30 p.m. Saturday.

“This is a wonderful community event and we hope people come out to support the zoo and enjoy a great evening mingling with friends,” said Brooke Wardrop, director of communications for Zoo New England. “Enjoy our remarkable exhibits and unforgettable animals, and of course, the delicious food so generously provided by all of the participating restaurants.

There will be over 20 restaurants from surrounding towns at the event, including Bertucci’s, Gaetano’s, Harrow's Chicken Pies, Not Your Average Joe’s, Woodman’s and On the Border.

“We are excited to welcome new restaurants to A Wild Affair this year, including Buffalo Wild Wings, Friendly’s, Fuddrucker’s and Honey Dew Donuts,” Wardrop said. “We are also thrilled to welcome back many returning restaurants who have generously supported this event through the years.”

A Wild Affair is for adults over 21 and tickets cost $50 in advance or $60 at the gate. The event will be located at 149 Pond St. and features live entertainment, local caterers and restaurants, silent auction as well as a walk among the animals.

In 2010, more than 600 people attended the event, including people from Burlington, Lexington, Malden, Medford, Melrose, Reading, Saugus, Stoneham, Wakefield, Winchester and Woburn.

Proceeds from the event will support Stone Zoo's educational programs and conservation initiatives.
