After Greenway Groundbreaking, Time To Get To Work

Saturday morning the Greenway clean-up continues, and they need your help.

First came the groundbreaking. Now comes the work.

This Saturday at 9 a.m. the Greenway needs volunteers to clear trash and brush and invasive species from parts of the trail from the Middle School to the train head. Volunteers should meet at the Pomeworth Parking Lot on Pomeworth Road in Stoneham, next to the Middle School entrance. There will be some rakes, gloves, and other equipment available but volunteers are encouraged to bring their own (marked with your name) if you have them.

Tree work has already begun along the trail in Winchester, and the actual construction should begin this week near Wedgemere Station. Work will proceed from there toward Woburn and Stoneham. The first section of the trail to be constructed runs from Bacon Street by the edge of Ginn Field and along the Aberjona River (between the river and the parking lot) to Waterfield Road.

Portions of the permit parking spaces on the river side of the Aberjona Lot will be closed at times during construction.
