Bedford Man Accused of Drunk Driving in Wrong-Way Crash on Route 93 Sunday Night in Stoneham

James Milligan, 63, is slated for a March 20 arraignment in Woburn District Court to answer to several charges.

A Bedford, Mass. man is facing drunk driving-related charges after driving the wrong way on Route 93 northbound in Stoneham Sunday night and injuring four people in a four-car crash, according to State Police.

James Milligan, 63, was arrested at Winchester Hospital and charged with OUI alcohol, leaving the scene of property damage accident, wrong way operation and OUI alcohol and causing a serious accident with personal injury, according to police. He was treated for injuries reportedly sustained in the crash and later bailed, according to police.

He is slated for arraignment on March 20 in Woburn District Court.

At 8:26 p.m., State Police units from Andover, Medford, Troop A's Community Action Team, a K-9 team and area fire departments responded to the accident near Montvale Avenue, accoding to police.

Four people suffered non-life-threatening injuries and were transported to Winchester Hospital for treatment, police said. Three of the four vehicles involved in the accident were towed from the scene.

Route 93 was closed for approximately one half-hour while victims were treated and transported and vehicles were removed, read a State Police press statement.
