Boy Scouts will serve breakfast Jan. 19

Honoring MLK, Troop 513 preparing breakfast at Senior Center

In honor of Martin Luther King, Jr., Stoneham’s Troop 513 of the Boy Scouts will serve breakfast on Saturday, Jan. 19, at the Senior Center on Elm Street.

Pancakes, bacon and eggs will be served from 8:30 to 10:00 Saturday morning at the Senior Center, prepared by the Scouts. Those attending may reserve seating by calling the Senior Center at 781-438-1157.

“Dr. King gave his life in service to others,” Jack Woodman, Troop leader said. “We’re happy to have a chance to serve our community.”

The community-service event is part of the 19th annual MLK Celebration in Stoneham, culminating in a Monday morning program of stories and music at the Boys & Girls Club, starting at 10:00.

Troop 513 is one of the oldest Boy Scout chapters in Massachusetts, chartered in 1924 at the First Congregational Church in Stoneham.
