Day Shaves Head to Support Childhood Cancer Research
Representative joins sports stars and state house colleagues as part of an effort to raise funds for cancer research.
A release from the office of State Representative Michael Day:
BOSTON, Ma. – Representative Michael S. Day (D-Stoneham) recently joined with several colleagues from the Massachusetts House of Representatives, Governor Charlie Baker, a host of local professional sports celebrities and entertainers and others who all agreed to shave their heads as part of an effort to raise funds for cancer research. The 6th annual “Saving by Shaving” event, hosted by Granite Telecommunications CEO and President Rob Hale, the Hale family and the employees of Granite Telecommunications, raised a total of $6.5 million that will go directly to Boston Children’s Hospital for cancer research.
“This is the second year I’ve had my head shaved as part of this tremendous event,” said Representative Day. “I joked that the size of the heads of my colleagues and I overshadowed Big Papi and Ray Bourque and Troy Brown with our efforts, but the truth is that we were incredibly proud to be able to use our positions to help raise awareness and money for cancer research. I applaud Rob Hale and everyone at Granite Telecommunications for their generosity and efforts.”
