On my campaign trail I often hear “Well I’ll consider voting for you, but my kids have long since graduated.” I would like our community members to consider a new high school that offers opportunities for our adult population, both as teachers and students. Adult education classes designed and offered at the high school to include our retired residents will keep us all invested in our education. A highly ranked school district appreciates the value of our properties to the community as a whole as an exciting potential endeavor. I hope our residents can rally behind my desire to define our town as an innovative place that values the contributions of all its citizens. Adult education classes could offer revenue to our town and utilize the resources that a cutting edge building can offer. Our topics of learning are infinite. Imagine the attraction to area residents of classes such as “Basic Quilting”, “How to Design an Online Business”, “Mushroom Foraging in The Fells”. How about a class that teaches the importance of local politics and ways to get involved? We could have the young learning from their elders, and vice versa, creating an involved and evolved community. On April 2nd, I am asking for your vote, but, win or lose, I hope that along with me, our town does not accept a status quo school district, but insist on something better.
