
Eleanor S. (Safford) Bowen of Burlington, former longtime resident of Stoneham, died Sept. 30 at the Sunrise of Burlington Assisted Living. She was 92 years of age.
Eleanor was born in Canton, New York on December 25, 1925 the daughter of the late Walter E. and Anna O. (Dick) Safford. Eleanor worked for U.S. Steel and retired after working 32 years. She was a member of St. Patrick’s Church in Stoneham and a member of Bear Hill Golf Club in Stoneham for 25 years.
Eleanor was the wife of the late Henry S. Bowen, Jr. Stepmother of Suzanne B. Oparowski and her husband Joseph and their son Joshua. Cousin of David Dick and his wife Patricia. Sister of the late Helene S. Hallisey and friend of Joyce A. Hallisey. She is also survived by grandnieces and grandnephews. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, October 10 at St. Patrick’s Church 71 Central St., Stoneham at 10 a.m.. Burial is private and there are no visiting hours.
