Fire Explorers Answer Call For Help

Stoneham group sends package to Buffalo teen battling leukemia.

A release from the Stoneham Fire Explorers:

The Stoneham Fire Explorers received a special request from the family of a brother Fire Explorer currently battling leukemia at Buffalo New York’s Oishei Children’s Hospital.

Fire Explorer Timothy Richardson is part of the Hy-View Fire Company’s Explorer Program in Cheektowaga, New York. At just 16-years-old, Timmy is incredibly passionate about firefighting. He has grown up around firefighting, and plans on joining the fire service as a career as soon as possible.

While hospitalized and fighting this battle, Timmy wants to be able to wear a different fire department’s shirt each day he is in the hospital, so his family put out the call for help.

Immediately upon learning of Timmy’s request, the Stoneham Fire Explorers assembled a package for Timmy including a Stoneham Fire Explorer T-Shirt, a Shoulder Patch, a Baseball Cap, a Challenge Coin, a window decal, and a Stoneham Fire Department T-Shirt along with an Auxiliary Fire Department shoulder patch.

The brotherhood of firefighters, including fire explorers, is strong. The Stoneham Explorers want to send a clear message to Timmy, “We’ve heard your call for help, and a package is on it’s way. Fight hard and get well soon!”
