Five Things: North School Articles Approved at Special Town Meeting

1. In case you missed it: The North School warrant articles were among those during the Special Town Meeting session Monday night at Town Hall. Article 1 of the Special Town Meeting deals with the transfer of land from the Stoneham School Committee to the Stoneham Board of Selectmen, which also includes granting the Selectmen permission to sell the land to Collins Development Inc. Collins Development is proposing to renovate the existing historic North Elementary School and adaptively reuse it to make it into 12 one-and-two-bedroom condominium units. The developer also intends to purchase two other lots along Collincote Street at $152,500 each for single-family residential development. Article 2 relates to Article 1 and involves a zoning change to allow residential development at the former North School site.
2. Stun guns: The will be receiving after voters approved the purchase at Monday night.
