Marie Martinez Passes Away

Marie Therese (Girard) Martinez of Stoneham passed away on Thursday, June 1, at Pilgrim Rehab & Nursing Home in Peabody. She was in her 93rd wonderful year.

Born on February 7, 1925 in Cambridge, Marie was the loving daughter of the late Leonard O. Girard and Margaret B. (Quinn) Girard. Marie was a warm and caring daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, aunt and friend. She will be deeply missed.

Marie was a dedicated Secretary for the Emerson School for many years. She loved her family. Spending time with them was first and foremost in her life.

Marie was the beloved wife of the late Robert Allan Martinez. She was the devoted mother of Nancy E. Shapleigh and her husband Neal, Robert A. Martinez Jr. and his wife Judy, Joan M. Martinez, Diane M. Murphy and her husband Warren and Jerry Martinez. The cherished grandmother of Robert Martinez III, Joseph Murphy and his wife Kirby, Erin Shapleigh, Sarah Martinez and Sean Martinez, Marie was the doting great grandmother of Harrison, Alexis, Lyla, Andre, Owen and twins Declan and Jameson. She was the dear sister of the late Bertha Giordano and her surviving husband Joseph, the late Leonard Girard, the late Margaret Drady and her late husband George, the late Anne Doran and her late husband Richard. Marie was also lovingly survived by many nieces and nephews.

Funeral from the Barile Family Funeral Home, 482 Main St (RT 28) Stoneham, Monday, June 5th at 9 am followed by a Funeral Mass Celebrating Marie's Eternal Life in St. Patrick Church, 71 Central St. Stoneham at 10am. Family and friends are cordially invited to gather and share memories with the Family on Sunday, June 4th from 2-6pm in the Funeral Home. Parking attendants and elevator are available. Interment Lindenwood Cemetery, Stoneham.
