Sal's Pizza Opens in Stoneham

On Wednesday Sal's Pizza opened a new restaurant at 196 Main St.

Sal’s Pizza opened a new location at 196 Main St. in Stoneham on Wednesday.

The pizza franchise has 38 locations in Massachusetts and the local chain is known for their 19-inch pizzas.

Operations Manager Gregg Ryan explained why Stoneham was the best place to put the newest restaurant.

“The location, it is on Main Street and Route 28 surrounded by strong national and regional chains,” Ryan said. “It was a great opportunity to grow the brand in an active community.”

Ryan is excited about the new opening in town and wants all the customers to try out the new restaurant.

“Sal’s has its own production commissary that is USDA and FDA certified,” Ryan said. “We make all our own dough, sauce and cheese and deliver it daily in our own trucks by our own staff.”

Sal’s is a family-run company and they are one of the largest suppliers of fresh pizza to school systems throughout New England, according to Ryan.

Ryan said customers interested in Sal’s Pizza to check out the restaurant's website and Facebook page for current specials or the pizza of the month. “Also, I encourage people to sign up for our Sal’s Pal email club to receive updates on current promotions and events at Sal’s Pizza,” he added.

When asked what separates Sal’s from other establishments, Ryan replied, “Our quality, size and price. We sell the largest, freshest 19-inch cheese pizza for only $10.99.”

While Sal’s is known for their pizza, that isn't the only offering at the restaurant.

“The Stoneham location has a full sandwich menu that includes sandwiches like steak and cheese, chicken parm, grilled panini sandwiches from tomato mozzarella and basil to Italian cold cuts, turkey club (and more),” Ryan said. “We also do wraps which include buffalo chicken and chicken caesar. We make our own hand cut French fries, serve buffalo and chicken wings and can make any custom calzone to order.”

How's the Food?

Saugus resident Anthony Travalgia has taken multiple trips to Sal’s and has enjoyed his experiences each time.

“I enjoyed the pizza itself the most at Sal’s,” Travalgia said while visiting the Stoneham location. “It was perfectly cooked and it was very reasonably priced.

“People should try Sal’s because they have the best pizza around and the atmosphere was comforting and the employees were very friendly.”

Meanwhile, Maynard resident Patricia Alloway was very satisfied with the pizza Sal’s had to offer.

“Sal’s has good pizza and they cook it the way you like it,” Alloway said. “We live close to the one in Tewksbury, my kids love it and if you want a slice, it is a good value and large to boot.”

For those who haven't tried Sal's, Alloway said people should give it a whirl.

“New pizza places are always good to try and I think if people try Sal’s, they will come away with a good feeling,” Alloway said. “So, give it a shot. Nothing ventured is nothing gained.”

Matthew Pacino, of North Reading, said he enjoyed his visit to the new Sal's in town.

“My experience was that it was a fun environment, the prices were not overly priced and the slices were big so overall it was a good experience,” Pacino said. “It is a very laid back atmosphere and it is local. It isn't like a Pizza Hut. Try it and you won’t be disappointed.”
