Severe Weather Sweeps Through Stoneham, Downs Trees
The Stoneham Fire Department said Sunday night that it was responding to reports of downed trees throughout town.
STONEHAM, MA — A round of severe weather swept through Stoneham on Sunday evening, bringing intense thunderstorm conditions and downing trees throughout town, as noted by the Stoneham Fire Department.
The fire department took to social media around 7:45 p.m., noting that crews were in the process of responding to reports of downed trees at Christine Avenue, Marble Street, Wolcott Road, Forest Street and Green Street.
DPW and Eversource crews had been notified to assist in the cleanup, according to the fire department.

The National Weather Service’s Boston office issued a severe thunderstorm warning for areas including Stoneham around 7:30 p.m. on Sunday as a series of thunderstorms rolled across Massachusetts.
The warning was set to remain in effect until 8:30 p.m., with forecasters predicting winds as high as 60 miles-per-hour and penny-sized hail across a large swath of communities north of Boston.

The storm knocked out power in some locations, with outages leaving several thousand energy customers in the dark in nearby Melrose near the Stoneham/Melrose border as of 8:40 p.m., according to National Grid.
Power had been largely restored as of 12:20 a.m., though some customers were still in the dark.
