• Man Charged In $6,800 Scam Targeting Elderly Stoneham Resident (patch.com) — Stoneham residents are being warned after police charged a Lawrence man in a $6,800 scam that targeted an elderly Stoneham victim with a fake story about a jailed son needing bail. Detectives traced the money, which was unknowingly picked up by an Uber driver, and arrested the suspect with help from Wilmington police. Authorities urge locals to be skeptical of urgent requests for cash, especially involving loved ones in supposed trouble.
