Stoneham Chamber Summer Concert Series Begins on Thurs., June 21
Evening will feature the New Legacy Swing Band and include the Chamber Scholarship Presentation and a Children's Patriotic Parade

STONEHAM, MA/June 18, 2018—How perfect that the first day of summer is also when the Stoneham Chamber of Commerce Summer Concert Series begins on Thursday, June 21. This season promises many new performers, activities, corporate/community/non-profit partner presenters, and other fun additions. The Series begins with the 15-piece New Legacy Swing Band. Based in Portsmouth, NH, the New Legacy Swing Band has been entertaining enthusiastic listeners and dancers from Cape Cod to Portland to the Lakes Region of New Hampshire for over 20 years. Their library of 400+ songs and tunes include the music of Blood, Sweat and Tears, Brian Setzer, Herb Alpert, Chicago, updated (and swinging!) arrangements of the big band era and, of course, the beloved versions of the well-known big band and swing classics.
The Concert begins at 7:00 p.m. but will be preceded at 6:30 p.m. with the Stoneham Chamber of Concert scholarship award presentation. This year the Chamber is proud to present Colin Canavan with The Kathleen E. Bray Scholarship; Josh Doyle with The Stoneham Chamber of Commerce Scholarship; and Hayley Green with John F. Mahoney Scholarship.
The evening will continue at 6:45 p.m. with a children’s patriotic parade, which will be coordinated by Kathy Harlow with the North Suburban Child and Family Resource Network. Kids are to bring their decorated bikes, trikes, wagons, and carriages in this annual traditional parade around the Town Common.

In addition, the Stoneham PTOs and Melrose-Wakefield Healthcare will be the community partners for the evening.
Summer Concert Series’ programs will again feature a special coupon to enter a drawing from the Greater Boston Stage Company, and like last year, the Greater Boston Stage Company is generously giving away two tickets to a Season 19 performance for EACH night of the Concert Series! So every Thursday, a winner will be drawn rather than just on the last night of the Series. Stop by the Concert for more details and to enter.
