Stoneham Garden Club Plant Sale and Luncheon Saturday
Annual sale of Perennial plants from members gardens and annual luncheon
BLOOMING FUN ON THE COMMON
On Saturday, May 20th 2017, the Stoneham Garden Club will hold its annual plant sale and luncheon. The plant sale will be held on the Town Common beginning at 10 am and ending at 2pm. The luncheon will be held in the First Congregational Church which is next to the Common. Luncheon will be served beginning at 11 AM.
The plant sale will feature perennial plants from members’ gardens, so customers can be assured that the plants that they purchase are acclimated to the Stoneham area. Perennials are a gardener’s best bargain because these plants flourish season after season often “sprouting” additional plants as years go by. Also available will be assorted annual plants including flowering plants, herbs and vegetables. The annual flowers can add color to any garden or make very special decorations for Memorial Day. The herbs and vegetables will make a great start on delicious summer meals.

The luncheon menu will include a choice of lobster roll or chicken sandwich accompanied by pickles and chips. Due to popular consumption, hot dogs will also be available. As part of “lunch” each patron may also choose a dessert and beverage. Many items are sold out quickly, especially the lobster rolls and awesome desserts.
Those who particularly enjoy dessert will have an added chance to indulge by purchasing items from the bake sale which was a popular new addition to the event last year.

Another feature which has proved popular year after year is the array of baskets which members assemble using interesting items, imagination and creativity. These are available by purchasing chances for a drawing held on the day of the event. Come and see what you may be lucky enough to bring home!
The funds raised by this event help support the Garden Club and its activities, and the Clara Deckelman $1000.00 scholarship which is offered annually to any graduating student who resides in Stoneham and is planning a career in horticulture, landscaping, agriculture, environmental sciences or related fields. The winner of the scholarship is announced each June.
