Straight Outta Stoneham: Famous Faces from Your Hometown
A look at a famous face from Stoneham.

STONEHAM, MA—Nancy Kerrigan, a two-time olympic medalist in figure skating, grew up in Stoneham and graduated from Stoneham High School.
Kerrigan won a bronze medal in 1992 and a silver medal in 1994, but is perhaps most famous for the events of the 1994 U.S. Figure Skating Championships. Seeing Kerrigan as a threat, fellow competitor Tonya Harding’s husband ordered an attack on Kerrigan in which the attacker struck Kerrigan’s knee with a club-like weapon.
The events have been well documented throughout, but were recently examined in a full-length ESPN 30 for 30 documentary entitled The Price of Gold. It is still unclear as to how much Harding knew of the incident.
