STONEHAM, MA—Two suspects arrested in connection with the shooting of a 27-year-old Stoneham man at a party in Winthrop were arraigned Tuesday, the Suffolk County District Attorney's office announced in a statement.

If either defendant posts bail, they are required to stay away from the victim and witnesses, surrender all firearms in their possession, and wear a GPS monitor, according to the statement. The next court date will be Aug. 4.

Officials say preliminary evidence shows the victim was involved in a fistfight at one point in the night. The man was thought to have left after that fight, only to return with an unarmed group after midnight.

A fight broke out again, and Damelio allegedly struck the victim in the head with a baton. He then told Guilfoyle to "get the gun," according to officials. Guilfoyle then allegedly got a rifle he legally owned and struck the victim in the upper abdomen with his only shot.

The victim was transported to Massachusetts General Hospital with life-threatening injuries; He had surgery there.

Winthrop Police recovered the rifle at the scene. Guilfoyle allegedly admitted to owning and using the rifle in the incident.
