Find out what other places garnered support.

In our last , we asked you, our readers, to come up with some ideas for what you'd like to see done with the former Baja Fresh Mexican Grill, located at 113 Main St. at Redstone Shopping Center near  and also around the bend from the .

Top Pick: Panera Bread

We received more than a dozen suggestions for what should be done with the old Baja Fresh restaurant and one suggestion topped the list with three votes: Panera Bread. Readers Debi Longo, Patricia Walsh and Diana Ardagna Cavanaugh were the supporters of the restaurant coming to town.

A Place to Unwind

Also receiving a few votes was the concept of an Internet or breakfast cafe.

"I would like an internet cafe/book store," wrote reader Laura on Stoneham Patch. "Someplace to relax reading or have lectures and book readings/signings. Also to host children's events."

Retail Stores

Stoneham resident Melisa Thorne suggested retail apparel stores fill the vacant space at Redstone.

"How about more retail like Ann Taylor or Ann Taylor Loft," wrote Thorne. "Or perhaps a kids clothing store like a Gymboree, Hanna Andersson or Gap Kids."

Multiple Options

Some of the other visions folks had for the space included:

  • Another Baja Fresh Mexican Grill
  • Brigham's Ice Cream
  • Party supplies store
  • Small toy store
  • Starbucks
  • Trader Joe's

Wanted: Reasonably Priced Products

But, whatever business decides to take over that space in the future, reader Tricia wants a solid business to move in.

"Something reasonable! Not something that will last six months and close because it is to expensive," she wrote. "You need to meet the needs of the consumer. Not everyone can afford expensive clothes and coffee."
