Wallace Announces Candidacy For Stoneham School Committee
Goal is to ensure our children receive the best education and opportunities available anywhere, in safe and modern facilities.

My name is Jaime (Downing) Wallace and it is a distinct honor to announce that I will be seeking a seat on the Stoneham School Committee.
I am a lifelong resident of Stoneham, an alumna of Stoneham Public Schools (SHS class of 1997), and have personally benefited from the Stoneham Public school education. Stoneham’s Public Schools have hard working educators, administrators and most importantly, students and families who deserve the finest educational experience. As a member of the School Committee, my goal is to ensure our children receive the best education and opportunities available anywhere, in safe and modern facilities. We will work to achieve this goal through sound budgeting, prudent administrative oversight and allocating the District resources where they will benefit our students the most.
My family is the most important thing in my life. My husband, Allen and I have two daughters. Natalie attends third grade at Robin Hood School, the same elementary school I attended. Audrey attends Pre-Kindergarten at Purpose School and will be joining her sister in the fall at Robin Hood. When my girls started school, I immediately realized how important the collaboration between families, faculty, and staff really is. This relationship is key to enhancing our children’s educational experience so I became actively involved in the Robin Hood Parent Teacher Organization (PTO). I am currently in my third term as the Robin Hood PTO President and truly enjoy working with dedicated parents, faculty and administrators to provide our kids with an enriched educational experience. As PTO President, I understand the budgetary constraints our schools face and we have worked to fundraise and use our ingenuity to overcome these challenges and provide educational and fun enrichment programs and activities that have benefitted the students and families.

For the last fourteen years, I have worked at Tufts University, most recently as the Department Manager for the Molecular Biology department. In my role, I am responsible for the overall financial and administrative management of an $18.4 million dollar budget, which supports the department’s research and academic objectives. Working in a University setting has given me experience in complex problem solving when there are competing demands and priorities. This is the skill set I will employ as your next Stoneham School Committee Member. Though my children are relatively early in their experiences in the Stoneham Public Schools, my large extended family in Stoneham gives me a broad range of insights at all levels (elementary, middle, and high school).
I believe I bring strong strategic skills and an understanding for where our school system is and where it
needs to go. I am thrilled by the opportunity to advocate for all members of our community and especially
for our students. As we progress through this campaign, I ask for your support. On April 3, 2018, please elect
me to the Stoneham School Committee, where I will continue to work passionately for both my children and
yours.
